Our main service
IKEA PAX wardrobe fitting in Manchester
We fit IKEA PAX wardrobes across Manchester and Greater Manchester so they look built in rather than flat-pack. The units are assembled and fixed to the wall, then trims and filler panels close the gaps, and the wardrobe ends up looking like it was part of the room from the start.
Weighing PAX against a made-to-measure wardrobe? We will tell you which suits your room and budget, even when the answer is not PAX. For a full run of wardrobes we visit to measure first, at no charge and with no obligation. We cover Manchester and the towns around it: see areas we cover.
Send photos of the wall, the ceiling height, your postcode and your IKEA planner link if you have one.

What to send for a price
The more of this you send on WhatsApp, the closer the first price is to the final one.
- Photos of the wall, wide and close-up, showing the skirting, sockets and radiators
- Ceiling height measured in two or three places, and the wall width at floor and ceiling
- Your IKEA planner link or shopping list, if you have one
- Hinged or sliding doors
- Whether an old wardrobe has to come out first
- Your postcode
Wardrobes that look built in, not bolted together
A PAX wardrobe straight from the box stops short of the ceiling, leaves gaps at the sides and sits slightly proud of the wall. It works, but it looks like flat-pack.
We fit PAX the way a joiner fits a bespoke wardrobe. Units are levelled and fixed to the wall, then trims and filler panels close the gaps to the ceiling, walls and corners, so the run reads as one piece of furniture.
- Floor-to-ceiling runs, with the gap above the frames closed off
- Alcoves, chimney breasts, corners and uneven walls
- Hinged or sliding doors, internal drawers, rails, shelves and lighting
- Every unit fixed to the wall, as IKEA recommends for tall wardrobes

What goes in before the doors
Before the doors go on, the frames are levelled and fixed to the wall, and the gaps at the top and sides are closed with filler boards. That is the work that makes a PAX run look built in, and it disappears behind the doors once they are hung.
The photo shows a bedroom run at that stage: frames and drawer units in place, with filler boards above them.

How a PAX job works
Send the room
Photos, rough measurements and your postcode on WhatsApp. If you have an IKEA planner design, send the link.
Plan the layout
We check the design against the room: ceiling height, skirting, sockets and door swings. We can write the shopping list so nothing is missing on delivery day.
Fit
We assemble, level and fix the units, cut and fit trims and fillers, hang the doors and set up the interiors.
Finish
Gaps are sealed, handles fitted and the room cleared. We check the doors with you before we leave.
PAX or a made-to-measure wardrobe?
A made-to-measure wardrobe is built in a workshop to your exact walls and can be any finish. It costs more and takes longer to arrive.
PAX gives you proven interiors, plenty of sizes and a lower price. With careful fitting it gets close to bespoke on the wall. If your room has a very awkward shape, or you want a finish PAX cannot offer, we will say so and point you the right way. For wardrobes made to the room, in lofts, alcoves and under sloping ceilings, see loft and alcove wardrobes. Filler panels and box-outs are left ready to paint; if you want the room decorated at the same time, see painting and decorating.

Questions we are often asked
How much does it cost to have IKEA PAX wardrobes fitted?
It depends on how many units there are, the type of doors, and how much trim and finishing the room needs. Send photos, measurements and your IKEA list on WhatsApp and we will price the fitting. The IKEA units themselves are bought separately from IKEA. What moves the fitting price is explained in our guide, IKEA PAX fitting cost.
Does IKEA fit PAX wardrobes?
IKEA offers an assembly service through a partner, Taskrabbit, which covers putting the furniture together. We specialise in the step after that: making the wardrobe fit the room, with trims, fillers and finishing, so it looks built in.
Can PAX wardrobes look built in, floor to ceiling?
Yes. PAX frames come in 201 cm and 236 cm heights, and most ceilings are higher than that, so the gap above is closed with a filler or box-out. We measure the room first and plan the trims around your ceiling and skirting.
Do PAX wardrobes need fixing to the wall?
Yes. Tall wardrobes should be fixed to the wall so they cannot tip. We use fixings that suit your wall, whether it is brick, block or plasterboard.
Can you fit sliding doors on PAX?
Yes. PAX works with sliding or hinged doors. Sliding doors suit narrow rooms because they need no space to open. Hinged doors look more traditional and give full access to the whole wardrobe. We fit both.
PAX or bespoke fitted wardrobes: what is the difference?
Bespoke wardrobes are made to measure and can be any finish, so they cost more and take longer. A properly fitted PAX costs less and uses well-tested interiors. If your room needs something PAX cannot do, we will tell you.
Do you design the layout, or do I use the IKEA planner?
Either. Many customers bring a planner design. Others send the room measurements and ask us to suggest a layout. We check any design against the room before you order.
Who buys and delivers the units?
Usually you order from IKEA and have the units delivered to your home. We can write the shopping list so the right frames, doors and interiors are on the order.
Can you fit a PAX corner wardrobe?
Yes. Corner runs are planned so the doors clear each other and the corner unit is fixed square to both walls. Two of the wardrobes in the photos above are corner runs.
Can PAX fit alcoves, uneven walls or sloping ceilings?
Alcoves and uneven walls are routine: we scribe trims to the wall so there are no visible gaps. Sloping ceilings are harder, and we will tell you honestly whether PAX is the right system for that room. For wardrobes made to follow a roof line, see loft and alcove wardrobes.
How soon can you start?
It depends on our diary. Message us with the date you need and we will tell you what is possible.
